Highlighted Trades - 01/22/2024

Welcome to our first highlighted trades report! We’ll be publishing stats on our Day Trade Bot on a weekly basis, but every day we’ll examine a few of its most and least successful trades. Without further ado, lets dive right in.

Currently, our most successful trade from today is a short position on STT. I say ‘currently’ because this position hasn’t been closed out yet. The bot went short on STT at 10:35 AM EST, at $75.34. With STT currently at $74.31, this trade is up 1.37% so far. I’ll note quickly that the stop loss and target exit price the bot chose are $76.78 and $72.46, respectively. So far, STT hasn’t gotten close to either of these - so it’s looking like when the position does get exited, it’ll be either due to technical signals turning unfavorable, or the bot deciding it’s held the position long enough.

Our most profitable long position of the day is also still open. The bot got into BXP at 3:10 PM, for $69.10 per share. BXP closed at $69.70, giving the position a return of 0.87% so far. The target exit is $69.86, with a stop loss at $68.72. There’s no way to know for sure how it’ll end, but it’s now fairly close to our target exit price.

This one is our most successful trade that was both opened and closed today. The bot called a short on ES at $53.28, and the position hit its target exit extremely quickly - $52.85, for a 0.8% return. Given that this position was only held for an hour (10:40 to 11:40 AM), we’re really happy with that! We also like how accurately the bot called its exit point. ES went right down to its target level before it bounced back.

Now, we’ve shown some of the big winners today. In the interest of transparency, let’s also show the biggest loser of the day.

The bot called a long on MTCH at $36.96, and ended up getting out of it at $36.23 - a loss of almost 2%. As bad as that is, there is some good to call out here. The bot had its stop loss at $35.93, which the stock eventually hit. This would have been taken the loss to 2.86%. It got out of the position early, citing that technical signals had turned unfavorable. Sucks to see, but with our goal of 50 positions per day, there will always be plenty of losers.

Overall, the bot entered 52 new positions today, with 12 of them being held over night. Of these 52 new positions, we saw 32 longs and 20 shorts.

That’s all we have for you tonight. We hope you’ve enjoyed seeing the new bot in action - good luck and happy trading!
