Highlighted Trades - 01/23/2024

The best trade our bot called today was a short on $BEN. We got in at 10:25 AM, at $27.82. It never got close to our stop loss, and the bot ended up dropping the position 30 minutes before close, at $27.31 - a fairly clean 1.85% return.

Today was actually pretty heavy on short positions. The most profitable long position we entered today was only the 7th most profitable position we took on.

We entered a long position on $APTV right around open, at $81.18. The stock never approached our target exit or stop loss, but we held until technicals turned sour - at $81.67. In this case, the bot would have benefited from a tighter stop and exit. These were $79.60 and $84.35, respectively - and throughout the day, $APTV never got close to either. And because the bot held until technicals turned bad, it missed out on some more potential gains.

There are no perfect trades - we’ll always be able to find some criticisms - but we’re overall happy about this one, and its return of 0.6%.

Here’s a position we’re holding into tomorrow: a short on $IFF. We went short at $79.75; it’s currently at $79.84, for some profit. The target price is $78.56, and the stock isn’t getting close to that. At this point, it looks like we’ll end up selling this around open tomorrow, given how close the TK-lines are to one another.

Lastly, our worst move of the day was this long on $CHTR. We got in at $380.59, and exited at $374.16, for a net loss of 1.68%.

Overall, the bot took on 42 positions today - 15 longs and 25 shorts.
